Platteklip Gorge
Platteklip Gorge is the quickest, most direct, and easiest hiking route to the top of Table Mountain.
This exhilarating half-day hike offers one of the most rewarding routes to the summit of Table Mountain. It’s a lesser-used alternative to the busy Platteklip Gorge trail, providing a more scenic and adventurous ascent. Expect breathtaking views, varied terrain, and an exciting mix of hiking and light scrambling.
The trail follows a steep but well-defined path, with a few rock scrambling sections that add an element of adventure without being overly technical. While some exposure to heights is involved, no prior climbing experience is necessary—just a sense of adventure and reasonable fitness. Along the way, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the city, Lion’s Head, and the rugged Twelve Apostles.
For those looking to extend the experience, we can include a detour to Maclear’s Beacon, the highest point on Table Mountain.
